Marc Kitteringham

It hit me when I was coasting down the Coquihalla at 120km/h in the pouring rain. I'd gone from snowy mountain peak into west coast rainforest in about 20 minutes. This was my new home.

I've been a bit nomadic these last few years, living everywhere from Kelowna, BC to a small village in the Upper East Region of Ghana. I've always aimed back towards the west, though. I grew up in the shadow of the rockies, but my interests finally coalesced after I moved further east. After a few years of living throughout the western provinces and some forays abroad, I finally have gotten the chance to move to where all of my interests combine. I'm home.

These past few weeks, I've been busy packing, getting a few last shifts in at the bike shop and a few more rides in Edmonton. With my car packed, two bikes on the rack and a full take of gas, I headed west for 1100km. I only stopped when I ran out of useable road. I am making my home at the end of the country.

I finally have gotten the chance to move to where all of my interests combine. I’m home.

This summer I'll be exploring a new city, province and home. Victoria is a great cycling city. There are camping routes, gravel roads, bike lanes, shops, groups, hills, descents and everything else someone who likes bikes can enjoy.

I can't wait to get started.

Here's to the trail.
