Eric came up to the Comox Valley this weekend for what I told him would be a 60-80 km gravel ride with a big climb. By the time we finished, we were pushing 95 km. But more on that later.
He also let me take photos of his bike. It’s a Rodeo Labs Flaanimal 5.0, a carbon/steel combo gravel bike that he has built up with a mix of Enve, Hed, Easton and Thomson bits.
The two rolled in close to sunset on the third day of their tour, after logging 145 km, then 63.96 km, then 131.46 km. They were dusty, thirsty and hungry. In exchange for taking pics of their bikes, we made them pasta and gave them as much water as our well could handle.
Geez, Matt’s bike(s) have been on here three times now.
Alex has built this bike up so many different ways. Under the blue paint, it is a Trek XO2. That was a long time ago and a lot has changed.
It handles like an old Cadillac, slow and full of that here we go feeling every time you take it through a corner.
